Project 95

Happy Apple Quilts began in 2005 as the team effort of twin sisters, Karen Grof and Sharen Weber. The name "Happy Apple" comes from happy childhood memories of our parents' apple orchard in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Originally started as a pattern designed company, Happy Apple Quilts has grown far beyond pattern design. Like all quilters, we just can't help ourselves. There are always more fabrics, more designs and ideas. More new techniques. More new tools. So, we keep adding more to our still growing website.

Happy Apple Quilts began selling our fabrics at Sue's Bay Area Sewing in Palm Harbor, FL in early 2008. We quickly outgrew our corner of the shop and teamed up with Crafty Threads in August of 2010. Our business continued to grow and we opened our own shop in October 2012!

"A Little Shop with a Big Heart," Happy Apple Quilts is now located in the Shoppes of Cloverplace at the corner of Tampa Rd and Lake St George Dr. Our address is Happy Apple Quilts, 3281 Tampa Rd, Palm Harbor, FL 34684. Our mission remains unchanged. We desire to provide the best products at the best price with the best customer service - in our new shop and on our website.

Karen has been quilting for over 35 years, starting with a baby quilt for her daughter Katie in 1977. With an art background and training in drawing and painting, she soon began creating her own quilt designs. Until the birth of her twin sons in 1990, Sharen was an accountant. She re-entered the business world in 2002. Sharen brings her business experience to the venture.

Sharen and her husband Dan live in Milan, Michigan with their three sons Ethan, Evan and Brian. From her northern location in Michigan, Sharen maintains our Happy Apple Quilts website and "business office." Sharen also finds it quite necessary to travel to Florida 3 or 4 times a year.

Karen and her husband, Jim, moved to Safety Harbor, Florida in 1977. They have two grown children, Katie and Randy. In August 2009, Katie and her husband, Jamie, welcomed Karen and Jim's first grandchild, Evelyn Rose. (Evie is named for our mother.) Randy and his wife, Christine, are expecting their first child in April, 2013

Both women have focused their lives on family, faith and home. Happy Apple Quilts embodies those values and we are grateful for the opportunity to share fantastic quilting products with you.
